When life hands you a π©π© storm, you can react in a number of ways. After the emotions settled from the shit-storm we were blindsided by in early January, it gave us a chance to reassess how we wanted life to be.
- Do we really want a job that requires you to give up every summer?
- Are we truly happy in Virginia?
- Do we want to be so far away from family?
- How do we want life to look and feel at this stage of our lives?
- What do we love to do (π£π₯ΎπΈ) and why aren’t we doing it more? What’s holding us back?
We did a deep dive into these questions, and the result meant another cross-country move … to Washington state to be closer to Jason’s family.
We completed the 2,900-mile journey May 17-22, 2022. He drove a 15-foot Uhaul with trailer, and I drove the truck towing our 17-foot fishing boat. It was a long trip, but a fairly easy one. We didn’t have any major issues other than getting stuck in Cheyenne, WY for a day because snow closed I-80. Each day we logged between 10-13 hours of windshield time, and when we got to our hotel room each night, we were exhausted but safe. And we were happy to be one day closer to the start of our new chapter.
We shared much more about this huge (and fairly unanticipated) move in our Pursuing Happiness post.
We didn’t take many photos during our journey (which is something I want to change!), but here are a few:
